Potamia
– Melanes
Our Trekking route starts at Kato
(Lower) Potamia village and we are heading towards Lierado area where an
abandoned olive press can be seen.
We walk by the old church of Prophetes
Elias and then the tower of Kokkos.
Our route goes on to Mesi (Middle)
Potamia following the river and then we stop at Pano (Upper) Potamia where we
visit a renovated, still operating water mill and right after the Mossena Tower
where we have a coffee break.
Then we head to the Melanes Village
where the unfinished statue of “Kouros” lies.
Once we have reached our destination and
enjoy lunch at a traditional tavern with a great view to the old Ursulines’
summer resort.
Kinidaros
– Eggares
Our Trekking route starts at the old
olive press in the village of Kinidaros (550m).
We stroll down the pavement and at some
point we cross the island’s largest river.
We visit the church of Agios Artemios,
the old Agios Dimitrios monastery, numerous watermills and an amazing
waterfall.
During the tour we can collect various
species of herbs and even taste fruit in season.
Our trekking ends at Engares Village,
the most fertile village of the island, where we enjoy lunch at a traditional
tavern.
